RMF’s Leadership Development Team Heads North to PSMJ Bootcamp

Baltimore, Md. – Earlier this month, participants of RMF Engineering’s Leadership Development Program (LDP) attended the A/E/C Principals Bootcamp in Boston, Mass. The bootcamp, led by David Burstein, PE at PSMJ Resources, is a 2-day, intensive program for junior and senior firm leaders to engage in learning and interaction aimed at developing innovative strategies and effective tactics for success. Core areas of focus at the bootcamp ranged from strategy and business development to financial management and ownership transition.

“Our trip to the bootcamp offered a tremendous learning experience for the LDP,” said Craig Buck, PE, LEED AP, project manager at RMF and LDP participant. “It gave us an opportunity to think more critically about a wide array of growth opportunities for RMF’s future. We are excited to brainstorm these ideas further and to explore what leadership strategies we can best leverage to maximize our client partnerships, our human resources, and similar organizational interests.”

People from across the country attended the bootcamp, including RMF’s past business partners, as well as other engineering firms. Participating firms ranged in size from small local firms with three employees to large international firms with 500+ employees.

About the “Leadership Development Program” at RMF Engineering
Over the next decade, the national baby boomer trend will impact countless businesses across the United States. At RMF Engineering, nearly one third of the firm’s leaders will either be retired or transitioning to retirement. To counter this trend, RMF launched the Leadership Development Program (LDP) in December 2011. The two-year program is modeled around a traditional MBA degree, but with a major focus on the engineering consulting business. Its mission is to better prepare the future leadership of RMF, and to create more fluid owner transitions through education and training provided by RMF’s management as well as external resources. The first-ever LDP class comprises seven RMF team members who are candidates for graduation in November 2013.
