RMF Engineering Launches Second Leadership Development Program

Baltimore, Md. – RMF Engineering announced today that it recently launched its second Leadership Development Program (LDP) with eight participants. LDP is a 20-month internal educational program meant to grow the firm’s mid-level leadership and successfully prepare them to take on key leadership roles moving forward. Many A/E firms are facing the impending loss of retiring leadership without a clear leadership transition plan in place. With the goal of sustaining its success well beyond current leadership, RMF is tackling this issue head-on by investing heavily in its future senior leaders.

LDP offers unique coursework that focuses on leadership skills, business unit management, effective communication, identifying and bringing in new clients, improving the firm’s project management tools, successfully handling ethical dilemmas, developing relationships between offices and more. While some outside resources are used, the majority of the course material is delivered by RMF’s existing senior leadership team, who are transferring the lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers to the next generation of leaders.

This year, eight, high-performing, mid-level employees were selected to participate in the program. As was true with the students from the initial class, this year’s students were selected because they are already demonstrating leadership skills within the organization, they have shown a passion for growing the organization’s talent and reach and they exemplify RMF’s core values. To date, participating students have come from eight of the firm’s eleven offices, allowing mid-level leaders across the organization the opportunity to build key relationships that will be invaluable as they assume senior leadership roles together.

We are excited to open the curriculum up to this new group of employees and continue investing in our firm’s talent.”

Inspired by the popular TV show “Sharktank,” each student will be required to present a strategic plan to RMF’s board of directors at the end of the program, indicating the area of business they are focused on growing and their plan for doing so.

To date, this year’s participants have been introduced to the course, its goals and objectives and potential growth opportunities; participated in a DISC behavioral assessment; completed PSMJ’s Project Management Bootcamp; and received personal Microsoft Surface tablets for course work. They are already demonstrating a passion to use the program to take their career to the next level.
