This project included the construction of a new Student Success Center (SSC), renovation and repurposing of Ruby Hicks Hall, and construction of a new central chiller plant. The SSC is approximately 66,000 SF and houses the Learning Commons that supports 21st Century workforce development, and includes a library with group study, technology and supplemental instruction areas, café / dining hall and campus store, auxiliary services, shipping and receiving, and the new central plant in the basement.
Ruby Hicks was renovated to house a new student One-Stop / Student Services Center that consolidates services including admissions, orientation, and student counseling into one building. The goal was to make it easier for students to navigate the enrollment process, minimize runaround, and give them convenient access to all services.
The goal of both facilities was to increase time students spend on campus, promote student interaction, and provide optimal services and functionality to decrease student attrition.
