When the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) released its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) 2009 rating system, it revealed bold plans to issue the next version in three years, to be aptly titled LEED 2012. This was supposed to be the start of the council’s three-year cycle of rating system updates as well. Alas, these plans proved too ambitious.
