Matthew Boatwright, PE

Principal

Matthew Boatwright is a Principal and civil engineer with experience in the design of civil utilities and a solid knowledge of electrical, steam and chilled water distribution systems. He began his career at RMF in 2009 as a co-operative student and has been a crucial member of RMF’s Raleigh, North Carolina office and Infrastructure team since officially joining the firm in 2011. As a Project Manager, he leads Raleigh’s Civil Engineering team with the responsibility of managing much of the firm’s work with higher education and federal institutions in the region. Under Matthew’s guidance and strong leadership, his team has steadily increased its client base, while effectively collaborating with RMF’s Civil Engineering teams in Baltimore, Atlanta, and Columbus.

His design experience is primarily focused on complex utility installations in congested sites and large-scale campus utility replacements. Matthew particularly shines at working with Owners and Contractors to solve problems with creative solutions.  He embodies a “boots on the ground” mentality and is just as comfortable in the bottom of a utility trench as he is leading large design meetings. He also has experience with general site planning, design, and permitting involving storm drainage analysis, stream buffer intrusions, site grading and hardscape restorations.

As a subject expert, Matthew has engaged in several speaking engagements and has contributed articles to such publications as FacilitiesNet. He is a graduate of RMF’s Leadership Development Program and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.
