James Givens joined the firm in 1997 and now leads RMF’s Field Services division. As a Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) and Energy Management Professional (EMP), James oversees a Field Services group whose responsibilities start at the conceptual design stage and end when the team has validated that a building’s complex mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems can provide a safe environment with the comfort, control, and efficiency that facility owners and operators expect. The Field Services division also provides Title II construction administration services, facility condition assessments, energy audits and retro-commissioning services.
James has over 20 years of practical experience providing building construction and commissioning services. He is routinely on project sites acting as a liaison for the owner, checking the functional operations of the building from a user’s point of view and keeping the owner’s vision alive from inception through completion.
James has served as the former treasurer of the Building Commissioning Association (BCA) and is currently on its Board of Directors. He has also organized and presented commissioning-focused seminars with the BCA. James is a member of the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) as well.
