How the Pandemic Has Changed the Way We’re Designing Buildings

Before Covid-19, one of a building designer’s most critical goals was to make a facility as energy efficient as possible. But like so many things, the pandemic has shifted priorities and now, perhaps not surprisingly, the focus has moved to Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) systems.

In a recent Consulting Specifying Engineer MEP Roundtable, RMF Project Manager Richard Heim, PR, LEED AP, shared his thoughts on the new trend and how COVID-19 has not only changed the way engineers look at IAQs, but how product manufacturers are stepping up to make indoor air quality cleaner and ultimately safer. But, as he points out, the most high-tech solution isn’t always the best one for every building and deciding on a new IAQ system requires a savvy designer who understands what factors should be considered before making any recommendations. Read Richard’s insights here.
