Overview
RMF provided LEED Commissioning Services for the new Raleigh Convention Center, the anchor project in the city of Raleigh’s downtown revitalization master plan. With a $220 million construction budget and 500,000 SF of meeting space, the facility is the largest ever commissioned within the state of North Carolina.
The multipurpose facility consists of individual meeting rooms, food service facilities, exhibit hall, ballroom, and numerous pre-function spaces all designed to host a variety of conference needs. Opened in the Fall of 2008, it has become a catalyst for downtown redevelopment and revitalization, which is drawing suburban dwellers back into the city’s core.
Engineering Highlights
- Provided design review of all MEP and roofing systems.
- Provided commissioning throughout construction, as well as post construction seasonal commissioning, to verify the various systems perform correctly during peak demand periods.
- Supplied a team of eight commissioning technicians to work around the clock in order to keep the project successfully on schedule. As a result, the facility opened to great reviews from day one.
