IDEA Elects Tim Griffin to Board of Directors

RMF Partner To Serve Three Year Term

RMF Engineering is pleased to announce the election of one of our partners, Tim Griffin, P.E., LEED A.P., to the International District Energy Association’s (IDEA) Board of Directors for a three year term.

Tim, a seasoned engineer with particular expertise in the design of district energy facilities, is the branch manager of RMF’s Durham, North Carolina office, one of the firm’s six offices. The North Carolina office, which has won numerous awards for its work, counts Duke University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina among its clients.

Over the past two years, Tim has chaired a committee within IDEA that has supported the US Green Building Council in the development of its guideline for the treatment of District Energy in the LEED Rating System. Published on August 13th, 2010, this guideline is used by all facilities pursing LEED certification that receive energy from district plants. Tim continues as the liaison between the USGBC and the IDEA and authors a quarterly column on LEED in District Energy Magazine.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from North Carolina State University, a Masters in Business Administration from Colorado State University, and is a frequent public speaker.

Also recognized by the IDEA at its 101st Annual Tradeshow and Conference in Indianapolis was Robert D. Smith of RMF, who served as a recent Chairman of the Association which represents approximately 1,200 members who are district heating and cooling executives, managers, engineers, consultants and equipment suppliers from 25 countries.
