Baltimore, Md. – RMF Engineering announced today the opening of a new full-service office in Charlotte, N.C. The new office enables RMF to offer highly localized mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering services for healthcare, higher education, local and federal government projects in the greater Charlotte area. Additional services, including civil, structural, and commissioning engineering will continue to be provided from RMF’s Raleigh office.
The new office is being led by Avery Monroe, PE, LEED AP, a mechanical engineer and project manager who was appointed branch manager for the Charlotte office. Monroe has been with RMF for 12 years.
Monroe has more than 25 years of experience in the design, analysis and construction administration of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems serving educational, healthcare, laboratory, military, and commercial facilities. His specialization in the design of higher education facilities throughout his career has allowed him to offer clients innovative and highly informed expertise. In his role at RMF, Monroe routinely utilizes sustainable design principles on facilities as well as documenting these principles in accordance with LEED and the State of North Carolina’s senate bill 668. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and a master’s degree in management from North Carolina State University.
Teresa White, an electrical engineer who has been with RMF for more than 15 years, is now working with Monroe in the new office. Mechanical Designer, Scott Broadfield, was recently hired and has joined the Charlotte team as well. The team’s office is located at 301 McCullough Drive, Suite 401 – near the UNC Charlotte campus, off of I-85.
RMF has significant experience in the Charlotte area, having successfully managed a variety of local projects, both large and small. The firm has worked for Carolinas Medical Center and recently completed the Rogers Science and Health Building – a four-story, 56,500-square-foot facility, designed for LEED platinum certification on the campus of Queens University.
